greetings from the Grimes family!
we are excited to celebrate that we have been here in Florida for 3 weeks. and oh how they have flown by! we have had the chance to be busy bodies, and lazy bodies...and we are still learning more and more about marriage through it all!
Rhett is working wonders at his bookstore...it's hard to believe that it was just an empty shell just over a month ago when we came home-hunting! his staff are incredible, and he is working so hard and so well. I am so proud to be his wife.
My job applications are still...well... I have no idea. Only one out of 7 actually gave a timeframe for what to expect, and that date is May 1st. everything else said don't call us, we'll call you. when, you ask? your guess is as good as mine.
We love our church. we have been blessed to find it, and have met dozens of people (all SO friendly!) and I start volunteering in the nursery on Sunday! what an exciting time.
We have the great opportunity to see cirque de soleil in downtown disney this weekend, and attend an Easter sunrise service at SeaWorld. our first glimpses of tourist orlando!
hopefully one day I'll pull out my camera and start taking pictures! more to come soon.

Greetings from the Sunshine State!
and the happiest place on earth!
We have been here one week now. We had a long trip...so I'll just update you!
The bookstore boys had corporate meetings the weekend before we left. I was blessed to have Angie and Emily come over for a good old-fashioned slumber party! What a blast.
Then came Monday morning...we loaded up the moving van, checked out of the aparment, and got on the road about 2:30. Thanks to the wonderful fabulous incredible sweetheart Angie for making this journey with us. We couldn't have done it without you!
We drove about 8 hours and arrived in Diamondhead Mississippi, stayed the night, and got on the road about 7:30 the next morning. Not too much later, I see red and blue lights flashing behind me! He pulled me over because I crossed the "white line on the road" but really he wanted to make sure I had no contraband in the giant uhaul. what an adventure.
We got to cross 4 state lines, and finally made it home about 8:30 EST. weird. We unpacked enough stuff to sleep on beds..and enjoyed a good sleeping-in. We unpacked, got settled, got FL drivers licenses, made walmart runs....and now we're on a roll at the bookstore!
Angie and I went to Downtown Disney on her last night being here, and had such a great time.
Rhett has been interviewing, and setting up, and cleaning up, and we have had company every night since we have been here! I love a full house : )
We found a great church home on our first try, and are so excited about how we will grow there. I have applied for 5 jobs here in central florida, and look forward to knowing the results within the next month or so!
Keep us in your prayers...and I will be a better blogger so that you can keep up with our Florida Adventure. and of course, come visit us and go to Disney!

The Grimes

farewell Lone-star state
ok so I'm a blogger schmuck. Once again...I have waited way too long to post. and now I have about 3948753948 new updates for you all!
I just cut off all my hair. 9.5 inches to be exact. I am now sporting a shoulder-length bombshell haircut... : ) and off it goes to Pantene Beautiful Lengths for adult women with cancer.
Rhett and I are now pros at super mario brothers. it's our very favorite thing!
Roscoe is doing great...he's as cute as ever...and enjoyed barking at Buffy the calf in Dalhart. also, he met his first cat and lost. glad he finally learned!
so the husband and I are moving to Orlando in 4 days. FOUR DAYS! where has the time gone? we were blessed to take a trip out to orlando a few weeks ago to home-hunt...and stumbled across quite a blessing of a rent house. we have a wonderfully nice landlord, and an unreasonably cheap rent cost for such a fancy 3/2! thank you drab florida housing market! we have also been warned to be on gator watch...and not to let the dog get eaten. great! on the slate of things left to do, we have:
get new drivers licenses
get new license plates
get toll tags (BLECH)
go orange county and the sunshine state!
today we are enjoying a morning date doing moving formalities and phone interviews for Rhett's new store....and this afternoon we plan to fully enjoy our last week here with an all-things-Texas date. not limited to: Whataburger (how do they survive without it in florida?), texas toast, texas lottery tickets, bluebonnets...and lunch under the texas flag! so-long state that holds our hearts always.

A long awaited update
ok...so obviously I had more faith in myself than I should have. I am a consistent blog reader, but not a consistent blog poster. anyway, I figured it was time for a long-awaited update. especially since so much has happened!
i'll hit the highlights, then prepare yourself for the BIG ONE!
-rhett and I spent some of our wedding gift money on a wii. we were blessed with almost all of our registry items, and only needed a few bathroom towels...so we splurged. let me tell you, it has been totally worth it! it is one of our very favorite pasttimes.
-we have very much loved being so close to family. we have had aggie basketball watching parties at the yaws...i have gotten as much twin cuddling as I can wish for, dinner dates, small groups, church, and a birthday party for Kaylee this weekend! we love you family!
-for spring break, rhett and I are blessed to be able to see both our families before we move again in late march. more on that later. we are excited to see siblings, parents, and our nephew!!
-I have been applying for a few part time nanny positions while we are in houston, with some luck, and have found one family that I very much like and got to sit for last week! they called me again, and I am excited to see where that relationship goes!
-Rhett is doing great working in Houston with James. we very much love being near the schumachers, and love our game days together with them!
-our apartment is wonderful. though we are sad to be packing and leaving it soon (only a short 7 weeks left), it has been such a wonderful first-home for us, and we love it.
-we are excited to go camping in 2 weeks! it will be great to spend time with friends..and carry on the 4th annual birthday tradition! what an exciting family pasttime that Rhett and I get to share.
-marriage is fun. we love going to bed early and waking up early and watching movies and playing wii and having dinner together. it takes patience sometimes, but we are both learning!
first set of big news (but not the biggest). for those of you who know us well..our moving situation has changed. business negotiations in orlando have hit a roadblock, so please pray for us as we work through this time of uncertainty. we may be staying closer to home (Texas), but we are excited and trust the Lord wherever he takes us.
and the BIG NEWS! we got a DOG!!!! also for those of you who know us, you will know that this has been in the making since...well...we started dating. we love dogs, and just had to wait to graduate to get one! it wasn't in the plan to get one right now....but we have been SO BLESSED with our new pal Roscoe. he is a lab/giant schnauzer mix, 57 lbs. and a year and a half old. we got him from the SPCA and he was a cruelty seizure from a puppy farm. he is magically kennel trained, house trained, and is great with other dogs and other humans! he very much loves the dog park (3 visits in 3 days) and tolerates baths (4 in 4 days). we visit the vet tomorrow to start the battle against his heartworms...and we love him so much!!!!

home at last
hello friends!
it has finally arrived. well, come and gone really.
the wedding week flew by. I spent the whole week thanking myself for being so organized...because rhett and I were able to relax and coast through the last week. with only a few last minute details to settle...we were able to play hours upon hours of Pacman world on Allison's nintendo gamecube...and enjoy Christmas in the Park w1ith friends! We went by the association to grab our new bumper stickers...and took pictures to send to Emily at Todays Letters for fist pump fridays! (check us out on her AWESOME blog...here).
we graduated..enjoyed a dinner with our families...and woke up saturday morning and packed suitcases for disney! at one, we decorated the ceremony (which turned out better than expected!) then we got ready for the rehearsal...rehearsed...ate delicious italian food...went bowling (SO FUN), had a girl slumber party, and all of a sudden it was sunday!!
the wedding went so smoothly, and we loved getting to see old friends, family, and enjoy each other. we flew through formal pictures, and got to dance the night away at the reception. we left for the Gaylord Texan...and then got up early monday morning to head for Disney World!
What a fantastic, busy, and fun week. now we are home...settling in...and excited to celebrate the new year with family!

reality check?
one week left. one!
as both a blessing and a curse, it hasn't kicked in yet. you know, the "oh my gosh" it's only one week! it still feels like 5 or 10 or 20 weeks left! lucky for me, that means the "is everything done?" panic hasn't set in yet. it also means that things continue to sit on my to-do list because I have all the time in the world...right?
December 19 is officially in the 10 day weather forecast, as are the first two days of the honeymoon. the predicted high temperature has already dropped by 6 degrees in just one day. we'll see how reliable this 10 day forecast bologna is. sorry all you cold weather lovers...but i'm hoping for a sunny 70 degrees the week before christmas this year...so we can use the beautiful outdoor courtyard and not freeze through formal pictures.
our apartment is wonderful. we have the blessing of living across the street from wonderful relatives with brand new baby twin girls! one for each of my arms over the next few months : ) we also live close to another beloved family who did us the major humungo favor of housing and feeding us all week while we slaved away unpacking. thanks griers : )
we have also been blessed by family and friends with beautiful wedding showers over the last few months. it truly made unpacking turn our apartment into a home. we can't wait to share it together.
and now..as college comes to a close...and our family journeys into a new adventure...we count it down with joy!
7 days until the wedding
13 days until Christmas

numbers numbers numbers!
greetings from..the future Mrs. Grimes!
okay okay...so we're not quite married...but who's counting?? well me of course, the bride! what kind of bride would I be if I didn't count the days, minutes and seconds until I get to marry the man who holds my heart? I have anxiously been awaiting the bliss of marriage...and the bonus of marital blogging. and since I can't do anything about getting married any sooner...I figured a little blog sneaking/cheating/early posting was a well deserved reward for all of my diligent wedding planning. so here I write, as almost-Mrs.-Grimes. I could might wait until the wedding for a second post. yeah we'll see if that lasts.
we are about a month from the wedding.
34 days to be exact. we are just short of
5 weeks from being husband and wife...and
3 weeks from being proud apartment renters! we have been engaged for
285 days...for a grand total of a
319 day engagement. to date, we have been dating
1162 days..or
38 months and
5 days. we have a wedding date of
12-19-2010 and will live in apartment
417 of our complex. my new lucky number. we will spend
6 nights and
7 glorious days in orlando florida for our honeymoon. it's
40 days until christmas, which I will get to spend with my HUSBAND.
if you can't tell, I am incredibly excited for when
