I'm getting the hang of this!

so it turns out, it is a lot easier to blog every day than every month. you only have to remember what happened yesterday, and not the last 30 days! I bet allison is having a fit with excitement : )

I would also like to start with a commercial...Allison leaves for Africa soon! keep her in your prayers...for safe travels, and patient and joyful hearts, successful missions, and that they would be free from illness. also keep my dear friend Angie in your thoughts as she interviews for nanny jobs this week! You will do so great!!

first of all, we have a new nephew!! Nikki had her little boy yesterday, so Lane now has a little brother named Colt Lawrence. he was 10lbs. 11oz. and 21 1/2 inches long. We hope that we get to meet him very soon. there are pictures on Donna's facebook to look at! also, I won the bet of when he would come...or at least I was closest. I had claims on the 18th, and he came on the 17th.

so today I go out to Seaworld HR to fill out my paperwork. I will also be asking questions about parking and admissions...because Rhett and I may now get funcards!

somewhere in our subdivision there is a plant. I don't know what kind, what it looks like, or who's house it is at. but on it, there are little...well....it's almost a minicactus! it acts like a cockaburr or sticker, but it's less pokey, more velcroey, and is shaped like a cactus! Roscoe comes home from walks covered in them, and I can never seem to pinpoint when he gets them. I thought I knew, but then we went a different direction and he still got them. the mystery remains.

last week we borrowed our new friends Shane and Summer's lawnmower. our grass grows really slow (ok let's face it, it's weeds) so we got away with our first mow being a month anda half after we got here! thanks to them for letting us borrow it!

after much ado waiting on the launch, it finally went up. it was too cloudy to see, and I would have missed it anyway if it weren't for pure luck that I walked the dog outside at the exact time it went up.

and now the mini-observations. or rather, the facebook status section.

for the purpose of the cactus stickies, (and the shedding issue) I have been SO loving my minivacuum. handheld. fabulous. one of the most used wedding registry items! (note to any engaged couples).

I'm still adjusting to being on eastern time. I have to constantly remind myself that 8/7c means 8 o'clock. I have been central time my whole life!

we have discovered the kettle cooked jalapeno chips. my advice: they are delicious, so don't even try one. we finished two bags off in 3 days. gross. it's funny how things like milk and snacks go so fast when you have them, but then you can do without them for a week and not notice.

we have the same dog bowls that the gosselin family once had for their previously owned dogs.

watching daytime court tv always makes me feel silly. all of the commercials are geared toward the older population. silly me. finally the era of daytime television is about to be over in my life.

I have been slowly discovering that I am really good at making hairbows. I have always loved being crafty, and have always loved "hobbies" enough to be a professional hobbiest. I could be really good at selling hairbows, invitations, cupcakes, necklaces, etc.

we started recycling. the end.

folding fitted sheets is hard. and nearly impossible. usually they end up as a crumpled mess in the closet.

if you want a lowfat and delicious idea: replace eggs and/or vegetable oil with applesauce! 1 egg= 1/3 cup applesauce. replace oil in a 1:1 ratio. I usually do about half of each, so that things still get eggy texture.
