so once again, it's been awhile. even when I have days off, they don't quite feel like days off yet. because now I cram all of my homely responsibilities into my days off. but today, even though the floor needs vacuuming and the wet laundry is waiting to be moved to the dryer, I will be taking it easy.
partly because both Rhett and I both got really sick last night. seaworld is now closing at 10pm, and I have the close shift 3 times this week. to my surprise, there exists a grid that ends at 8:15, even though my schedule says 10:15. if you are lucky enough to get this grid, essentially the last rotation is at an exhibit that closes to the public before the park closes. I got that grid last night! it was nice to have a transition period into the late closes. and, as it turns out, I became ill within 4 minutes of arriving at home. if I hadn't gotten the 8 o'clock grid, I would have been sick at seaworld instead of at home. we are still unsure of the illness causer. it's a mystery for now.
so other news! and there is a lot for 3 weeks! I'll try and do short spurts...and try to keep them in the most chronological order as I can.
I think we left off at us going to the beach. so of course we got a little sun. It was very much hilarious to use the hand vacuum to remove sunburn peels from rhetts shoulders.
my first day of work went well! I'm always a little apprehensive before I get to work, and nervous about messing up...but once I get there and get to talk to people I have such a wonderful time. I very much love the job. later in my first week I had the Aux close shift...which essentially is an extra in case someone is late, doesn't show up, or would like to go home early. and if none of those cases are met, then it gets sent home. as it turns out, I got sent home....but had such a great time in just the 2 hours I was there. we get to go to filler exhibits as an Aux, which are ones we don't normally staff..so I asked for penguins. and the people that go to penguins go there because they REALLY like penguins. so I loved talking to them. right as I was about to switch exhibits, I start talking to this family who very casually tell me about a tour they are going on today. as she is talking, I am starting to realize that she has already missed her tour....which I then have the responsibility of telling her and trying to fix it. in the end, we were able to get them taken care of, and of course that very much made their day...so I had some glowing fans that day.
then we went to visit seaworld for fun! and it was fun! I finally got to see the last 2 shows I hadn't seen, and just have a great date day with the boy.
also that first week...I was driving to work like normal, and I still have put off getting a toll tag (boo) so I went through the toll booth to pay...and who takes my toll? one of rhett's employees at the store! it was too funny, she had her second job for the toll authority! it was awesome.
we got to have our friends over for dinner....and angie we made those yum enchiladas you made us in houston! it was fun and delicious and we love them very much and love you very much.
rhett wanted to grow out a goattee. it was silly. it lasted about 2 days. very cute though.
also, for those of you who don't know what's been going on with our car registration...we took our paperwork to get my car registered here. they said you need a proof of gift from texas. "oh they can fax it to us and you can come back this afternoon." NOT. try "you can mail them some money and they will mail it to you in about 2 weeks." so that's what we did. all the time, trying our best to follow the rules, but committing a misdemeanor by not having florida plates. so my paperwork comes in and i get my plates. and we wait. and wait. and wait. rhett's doesn't show. I finally call again, and after being passed around on the phone, they tell me they have no idea why it never got sent out. our paperwork finally arrived on rhett's truck. after about 6 weeks. on the exact day that rhett got pulled over. ugh. it has been a nightmare. the cop said that he could have arrested rhett...which would have been no good. but it is all taken care of now. i hated watching my first paycheck from seaworld go to those dang license plates though.
roscoe's limp came back on the same leg. only for a few days. we still had some medicine from the last limp so we got him to rest and he is doing fine again. he has some new funny moves....he likes to sleep at our feet on the couch, and he sticks his head underneath the couch where it is dark. so we look over the edge and see all legs. and he tries to eat things on the glass table from underneath. cute.
sunday was an adventure too. after a morning of dancing to the chitty chitty bang bang soundtrack while getting ready for church, rhett and I took on the dryer vent (which was incredibly clogged) and (sorry florida) stupidly is on the roof. how can all the lint fight gravity for 12 feet and still make it out? answer: it can't.
also in a moment of embarrassingly rapping some nursery rhymes to rhett, I also learned that rhett had never learned hey diddle diddle before. so the embarrassment slightly shifted.
I am also remembering the time that we got locked out of our house on the 2nd day we moved here. ha.
: )
