things learned

so this post will be all about things learned. not just by me...just things learned recently.

first. crockpots are both magical and tortuous. they make delicious food, really easily, with minimal dishes. however, as I am staying home, I have to smell that deliciousness all day long. luckily, it tasted as good as it smelled.

you can't always trust your own ears. the other day there was a little spat of rain. about an hour later, I could have sworn that it was doing that really cool thing where it rains in the front yard but not in the backyard. turns out it was the water I had started to boil in the kitchen that just sounded like rain. lame.

distance is never representative of time. somehow, even with houston traffic as a factor, Rhett's 5 mile commute from the store to home can take as long as his houston commute which was 27 miles. who knew that the street we picked to live on was one of the busiest in the city?

patience pays off. even if you don't know you're exercising patience. after a monthlong wait on a seaworld application, I assumed I wasn't still in the running. turns out just when you assume, you are surprised! I got an interview! I am still waiting on the results.

roscoe has learned too. I trained our nonvocal dog to "speak" on command. best accomplishment ever. not really, but it's pretty awesome. most of the time he still just tries all of his tricks in the hope that I'm asking for that one, but at least he learned that it's a trick. also, I am in the process of training to burp on command. I have never known a dog with this much gas. it will be epic. he has also learned that he likes the sidewalk better than the grass, but still wants to sniff the grass. so he puts his nose to the side, and grapevines along the sidewalk on our walks. what a dork.

I have learned that one of my most favorite parts of the day is the morning. when I actually wake up early enough to talk to the hubby before he leaves, it is so fun. we are both so excited about the day and still in bright spirits. this morning it was our own assorted parodies of "friday" which entertained ourselves.

I have learned that orange county sheriffs are not what you would expect. one got of the car in the parking lot at the store the other day, wearing military boots and camo pants, with a tight green tshirt with camo sleeves. weird. rhett says he's the guy who's gonna cap somebody.

finally I have gained new insight on addiction. for those of you who know me...or mostly have lived with me, you know that I have a love/hate relationship with garbage television. notably, abcfamily shows like the secret life of the american teenager. it has become so ridiculous, but I just can't stop watching. somehow I tore myself away from glee when it became absurd, but I just can't do away with secret life. and I acknowledge it's stupidity. you know it's bad when every commercial on the internet episode is the preview for the beiber movie coming out on DVD, and I still put up with watching it. I swear if I hear "who wants to be my baby?" one more time I might die. or just continue watching the stupid show.

until next time!
